When it rains, drops hitting the plastic roof just outside the window make such a loud racket that they wake you up, and then you can't get back to sleep. The door also wouldn't lock from the inside, so anyone could have come in during the night. We chose the cheapest option and weren't expecting much, but we were traveling with a baby under one and they didn't provide a cot. The two adults and the baby had to share one bed. Air conditioning for 15€? Is that a joke?
The internet didn't work, and air conditioning wasn't even offered, let alone provided for an extra charge. They also let us in late, so we had to wait outside with all our bags. This wasn't the accommodation we'd booked. We were put in a different, downgraded room from the one we'd paid for, and the woman was rude and unwilling to help sort it out. When we arrived, she demanded an unexplained deposit, just pointing at something and saying, "PAY NOW". Wouldn't recommend it.
They apparently charge 10 euro per load of laundry, which is ridiculous. Air conditioning also costs extra, though I didn't need it during my April stay, so I can't verify that. This seems to be an illegal hostel. The phone number is disconnected, and you have to contact them through a message. If you get in touch ahead of time, they'll send someone over, but it took 30 minutes. There's also a strict 4 hour check-in window. Miss it, and you have to pay an additional fee of 15-30 euro.
The treatment was the worst part. At check-in, a woman who seemed to be in a bad mood yelled at us for being late. They even called me from different numbers to keep yelling. It was already night and I had nowhere else to go, and the atmosphere was incredibly hostile and rude. I think they were Russian, but whatever their nationality, the way they treated us was terrible. There were extra charges for everything: 15 euros per person for arriving after 8 pm, something not mentioned when booking; 10 euros to turn on the air conditioning; 8 euros each time you use the washing machine; and a 100 euros deposit even for just a couple of days. I booked through Hotels.com and never imagined I'd feel so ripped off. I never thought I'd have an experience like this while traveling. Think twice before staying here. The service can ruin your trip, and I definitely don't recommend it.
I stayed here for three nights for the Barcelona Marathon and had no problems at all, despite being a little worried by the lack of reviews. It's close to the main tourist attractions and the train station, so I can't complain about the location. There's an extra charge for checking in after 8 PM, and air conditioning costs extra too. If you're okay with those things, I think it's good value for money.
