Villa Cati

Really good.

The location was the one thing we liked during our week here in July. We won't be coming back. The bathroom was old, cramped, impractical, and not very clean, and the shower had so little pressure that rinsing my long, thick hair took around 20 minutes. Our first room faced the courtyard and felt depressing. When we asked to move, the receptionist rolled her eyes and snapped that we should have called ahead and gone to the beach instead. The older gentleman was also unfriendly when we asked to pay for air conditioning by the day rather than the week, since it costs extra. The replacement room was only okay. The air conditioner dripped overnight onto my suitcase underneath it, soaking the whole case and all my clothes. Breakfast was the same each day: very dry rolls, one jam in a squeeze bottle, one kind of cheese, no honey, and what seemed to be discount-store packaged croissants. There wasn't anything suitable for vegetarians. It was dull and disappointing. We're not especially fussy, but for a holiday costing that much, we expected a decent breakfast. Sand kept getting into the room because nobody swept the balcony. The room wasn't cleaned on Thursdays, towels were changed only if requested, and the bed linen stayed on all week, even when temperatures were over 30°C. Villa Cati has a quiet, simple feel, with warmth and light all around. You can hear the sea nearby and get morning sunshine, and the days seem full of smiles. Breakfast feels nourishing, and the simplicity has a way of touching you. It's not luxury, just a little piece of happiness.

I can't make sense of all the positive reviews. The owners don't even offer a friendly smile. A greeting like “Good day, welcome” is apparently too much to expect? 🙄 Breakfast was a total mess, with packaged croissants from a discount shop. What is that supposed to be?! Even in Africa you wouldn't get that. The coffee tasted like nothing, as if they were skimping on the grounds. What a disgrace! 🤣🤣🤣
