Hotel Boutique Albussanluis

The building is charming and quaint, and the location is handy and accessible, though traffic can be noisy. The service, however, was shocking. Reception staff were impatient and very unhelpful. Then a cleaner let herself into the room with her key without even knocking. Incredible. The room was adequate for a one-star hotel, but the shower leaked. The toilet seat is so close to the sink that you have to be careful getting up or you’ll hit your head. My advice is to avoid staying here if you can. I know I won’t return.

We found Hotel San Luis clean and well presented throughout, including the rooms, shared areas, breakfast bar, and outside car park. We had no traffic noise at night. The staff spoke little English, but were polite, courteous, and helpful. We were in their country, so it’s on us to speak Spanish. The days of Raj and Empire are long gone.

My highest score was for security, at 7 out of 10, while the lobby and public areas got 6. Location, breakfast and dining, and the overall atmosphere each scored 5. Facilities earned 4, as did value for money. I gave the exterior and bathroom 3 each, and service 3. The rooms were the weakest point at 2 out of 10.

The rooms are ridiculously tiny, like they were designed for oompa loompas. Service was awful too. The staff had a horrible attitude and were almost comically unhelpful, and wouldn’t deal with a booking problem that was their fault. Trust me, don’t go here.
