Tandem Solera

We spent a few days here over Christmas and found it quiet and clean, with clear communication and useful information about the stay. Entry through both doors was easy using the provided codes. The old building has been converted into luxury studio apartments, and ours was well equipped, including the all-important kettle. There was also a big comfy bed and a safe. The location is great, with underground parking just a few minutes’ walk away.

No daily room service unless you request it, which suited us, and laundry was free to use. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, cool in summer, and in a great location. Keypad entry meant no face-to-face check-in. Feels like the future of hotels!

The keypad on our room door failed, and we’ve been locked out for over two hours. There’s no reception, so if the door stops working, you may be left waiting a long time to get back in. It’s ruined our night in Jerez. Thank goodness we found out before we needed to go to the airport.

The flat itself was modern, pleasant, and clean, but ours was on the ground floor. We couldn’t open the blinds without giving up privacy, so there was no way to enjoy natural light. Getting in was stressful and impractical. You arrive on a narrow road and want to unload before holding up traffic, but can’t enter the building until you call a number. Even then, they wouldn’t let us in until we gave the passport numbers and full names of everyone staying. After a long drive in the car on a very hot afternoon, trying to dictate those details over the phone in a second language to someone speaking a second language wasn’t fun. Lovely Silvia didn’t invent the silly system, but it made the whole situation harder while we were disrupting traffic in an unfamiliar town. Then we had to work out the code for the front door, followed by the separate code for the flat.
