We paid €13 for a glass of incredibly watered-down wine. That's especially hard to swallow when decent house wine costs about €3 in many restaurants in central Granada. There was no price sign on the door, and we weren't given a menu until the waiter asked for our drinks as we were sitting down. It felt like a way to get us to order before we could see the prices. The menu was very basic, with German and Spanish dishes, and the food was unimpressive and didn't seem to use fresh ingredients. I've been to major European cities and live in a particularly expensive tourist town, but for a place this size, this was one of the worst tourist traps I've come across. Few other places were open when we stopped while waiting for a bus to Granada. Service was hard to judge, since the waiter only came over to take the order and bring the food. It seemed aimed at wealthy retired tourists who might not notice the poor value. Our bill came to €55 for a below-average lunch, including an extra 10% service charge. We had to go into the empty bar to pay, where the waiter was on his phone.

The beds were really comfortable, and the hotel was spotless. The staff were excellent and gave us a warm welcome. We even enjoyed playing chess in reception. It's the best hotel we've stayed at in years, and we loved everything about it. Just perfect, and we can't wait to return!

We were charged 6 euros for a coffee and sparkling water yesterday. I paid, though I hesitated, since I've been around long enough to know prices. Then I checked a receipt at another table and saw that coffee was 1.50. I went inside to ask the younger waiter how much tea cost. He started to say it was a little over 1 euro, but the older man came over and said the tea I'd chosen was “tropical,” so it cost 3 euros. It was just a regular rooibos teabag. I never expected to feel scammed in a place like this. A bad experience, one star. Update, 30 June: The bar owner told the hotel owner I'd ordered tea with two bags. That evening I said I didn't care what kind of rooibos it was. Strange, since he'd told me it was “tropical” and therefore double the price. We hadn't ordered coffee at all. I don't drink it, and my partner doesn't have coffee in the evening. He made that up to justify charging 6 euros. I'd be careful with this staff member, as he could damage the hotel's reputation. For anyone reading, he's the older bald man with a dark beard, a heavy build, and a commanding voice.

25€ for four drinks, two small beers, one vino tino, and one barcardi and coke! And no tapas. We live here, we're not tourists, and we won't be back. Way too expensive, the bill should have been half that.

We stopped for wine and tapas. The wine was nice and the tapa was OK. Daniel gave us very good service, though it got busy and we never got a second tapa. A nice place to sit and watch the world go by.
