Hotel Amazonas

The people working here were the best part, especially the lady who served breakfast every day and sometimes worked at the pool bar. I don’t know her name, but she was amazing and definitely deserves better pay. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I booked a last-minute solo trip through love holidays and had a clean single room with a comfortable bed, a bathroom that did the job, and a lovely little balcony. The hotel was spotless and well maintained. It’s three minutes from the beach, with shops on the same road, restaurants nearby and more just a short walk along the seafront. Buses to Palma city, the aquarium and other places stop along the route. I was on the third floor, on the left when looking from the street, and didn’t have any noise issues. Towels and bedding were changed every other day. The pool area was clean and well looked after, with a nice pool, a lifeguard and a smaller pool for kids, I assume. Breakfast was included and had a great range of hot and cold choices that changed daily. My only small preferences would be a table on the balcony, a fridge in the room and WiFi without an extra charge. They wouldn’t stop me staying again. I’d recommend it 10/10.

I liked the pool best. It’s quite big, with a peaceful garden around it and a lovely atmosphere for sunbathing. There’s always a lifeguard and a bar, and you can bring your own food or drink if you have special dietary needs. For a three-star hotel nearby, the price was pretty reasonable. I was worried after reading some bad reviews, but I was fairly happy and might stay again. I’d choose a room at the back next time, away from the street and the neighboring apartment. I stayed five nights in a single room. It had a bed, cupboard, small table, one chair, local-channel TV and a mirror. There was an extra hairdryer in the bathroom. I think all the rooms have balconies with an extra chair, so don’t worry. There were no sandals, so bring your own. The mattress felt too soft and sagged after a whole night, which hurt my back. I’d read a review saying the hotel had very hard mattresses, but mine wasn’t like that. They provided wool blankets rather than bed blankets, maybe because it was summer. There was a safe deposit box, but I had to ask reception for a key. The bathroom had a modern update, though the toilet flush was weak in my room. The room was cleaned every day if I put the marker on the outside door handle. The location is both handy and noisy. It’s five meters from the beaches and one meter from restaurants, but S'Arenal is a party area and the hotel is right next to the main road. Traffic and parties start in the evening, and I found naps calmer than nights, when people were either working or at the Beach. Sound carries between rooms in the old-style building. When the next room’s door opened, it felt like ours was opening too. The elevator also made me nervous, as it was slow, dark and vibrated when it stopped. The pool is a plus, but this is probably a better fit if you’re young and want quick access to parties, beaches and shops. If you plan to spend much of your time at the hotel for a staycation, you may want somewhere calmer with more facilities and activities.

It’s good value during the day, with a nice pool, a quality breakfast and clean spaces. At night, though, it was a nightmare. The beds were rock hard, the pillows paper thin, and the hallways were very noisy with people partying until early morning. WiFi was scarce, and there were no beach or pool towels.

I stay here often, for work and for pleasure, and love this hotel. The front desk staff are professional and very friendly, and the location is lovely, close to everything but still quiet enough to rest. It’s the best value for the price and service on the island. Airbnb is overrated here, and sure, fancier rooms exist at five-star hotels, but at ten times the price.
