Sercotel Logroño Suites

The apartment was great, and I’d stay again, but check-in started terribly. The kiosk wouldn’t scan either my ID or my partner’s, which was in a different format, so I had to enter all the information manually. I was doing that while holding a crying baby and trying to keep a toddler in hand in the lobby. I’m fine with self check-in when it works, but this was a nightmare. Without that first impression, it would have been five stars.

I wouldn’t return, and I was especially disappointed because my stay at Sercotel Portales was the complete opposite. At 4 p.m. the kiosk said my room wasn’t ready, and with no attendant there I had to call someone. It took about ten minutes to get a room ready. The lobby had no AC and felt even hotter than the nearly 100 F or 38C weather outside. On my floor, cleaning carts and trash were spread across the narrow hallway. The room AC wouldn’t go below 22C, then reset to 25C whenever I left. I called and was told they’d keep an eye on it, but couldn’t override it manually. I had to bracycephalic dogs with me, and high temperatures can be a health hazard for them. This was my worst experience at the property, and I’d give it zero if I could.

The apartments are new and exceptionally clean, and the price felt very good for the quality. They’re near Logroño’s lively area but far enough away to avoid its noise. It was quiet at night, and the temperature indoors was well regulated.

The location was a highlight, in a quieter area close to downtown, and it worked well for kids. The hotel is affordable and good in all aspects. Automatic check-in might make things easy, but it can also be a real pain. Lots of hotels have adopted it, and I’m not a fan.
