The room was clean, the location was nice, and the bathroom was especially good. The A.C is very strong and doesn't seem to respond to temperature changes, though you can switch it off. Breakfast wasn't anything special, but there was enough to eat. The coffee was good and had lots of milk choices. There's an Audi and a Carfour nearby, which I think are open 24/7, and the metro is very close, with a direct route to the city centre.

A very good hotel for the price, and I'd come back if I'm in Madrid again. The rooms were extremely clean and small but comfortable. Staff were always smiling and helpful. The location in Cuatro Caminos is very safe, on a quiet little street close to the metro, two supermarkets, and seemingly endless restaurants.

Hostel 4c in Madrid was a pleasant little stay. It feels more like a regular hotel than a hostel, and we were lucky to get an upgrade. I'm not sure how much worse the downgrade might have been. Our room was nice and spacious, with a good shower. It's very near the metro, and a multi-use ticket is good value. There was some street noise. Breakfast was basic and cost 6€, but for some reason they had no ham or cheese while we were there.

The staff were pleasant and the location was good, but the room was dirty and the bathroom door was broken and couldn't close. The bed was so noisy it felt like being on a ship, shifting with the slightest turn. Smoke lingered in the corridors, and we developed allergies in the room. They came back briefly when we opened our luggage at home, possibly from all that smoke. There wasn't any real sound isolation, and every night someone in the building woke us up. The free WiFi barely worked. The room was cold too: they gave us a couple of unclean blankets, and the heater/AC didn't work. At more than 100 euros a night, this was terrible value even with the central location.
