The place is very, very well located, with restaurants, bars, and Plaza de Sol metro station just a one-minute walk away. Other major attractions are also within walking distance. The room was basic, and the towels were thin, frayed, and worn out. The guy at reception wasn't very friendly. We arrived very late and didn't get up early the next day, but around 10am he tried to enter our room without knocking. When he was caught, he said he wanted to clean it. Later, I told the cleaning lady in one of the hallways what had happened, and she said he wasn't a cleaning person. I refused room cleaning unless I asked for it. I also wouldn't recommend leaving valuables in the "safe" box.

The room was tidy, and the location was very convenient. But the noise was the reason I gave it three stars. The walls are incredibly thin, and with such a central spot, it's noisy late into the night. Management doesn't seem to care about quiet hours.

The location was perfect, and the staff were friendly. The rooms were old, and the receptionist didn't speak English very well, but that was okay. For the price, it was fine.

It's clean and functional, with great value and a prime spot among bars and restaurants. I've been to Madrid quite often and recently started staying at this hostel. For my next trip in Feb 24, I entered the wrong dates when booking. Hotels.com contacted them within a few minutes of my mistake, but they wouldn't let me change to the correct dates unless I lost all my money and booked again. That unreasonable decision cost them my loyalty, so I won't return. Without that, I'd honestly have given it 5*.

We spent three nights at Hostal Fuentesol, and it was a perfect base for exploring Madrid. The rooms are dated, but they were clean, tidy, and worked just fine. The bed was comfortable, and the lady was incredibly accommodating even though I only spoke a little Spanish.
