Helpful staff and a good location in Madrid. My only complaint was that our room was next to the main door, so we heard it opening and closing. They should put in a rubber stopper to keep it from slamming.

As a solo female traveler, I felt safe here, and the location couldn't be better. All the top tourist spots are 10-20 mins away on foot. There are good restaurants and a Carrefour Express right next door. The only downside was that I stayed during Pride and the marches kept passing along our street. The walls are thin, so noise from outside and other rooms carries, but everything else made up for that. Highly recommend, and I'll stay here again next time I'm in Madrid. This was my first ever Hostal stay, so I was nervous, but I was happy as soon as I arrived. It feels cozy, super clean, and the staff are really friendly. Pedro was incredibly sweet and helpful, always there when I got in late after training. Thanks also to Feli, who was kind and flexible about letting me leave my bags after early checkout, and to Lorena for being so attentive. Staff wise, 10/10! I had a double room. It was very small, but clean and tidy, with a cute terrace where I could people watch. Everything worked perfectly except the minibar, which wasn't really important. The AC worked fantastically, much needed in the heat, and the room was cleaned every day. You have to leave your keys behind, but I actually prefer that because it means I won't lose them. There's also a lift, which is handy with heavy luggage.

The rooms were clean, and the price was good. But with the doorbell going off constantly and loud noise through the night, getting a proper sleep was impossible. I wouldn't recommend it if rest matters to you.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and the location is central and feels safe. The room had been renovated and was clean, but sleep was difficult: you could hear people talking on the phone or snoring in other rooms, and the bed was short enough that my feet hung over the end even though I'm under 1.80m. There was also a persistent unpleasant toilet smell, and the mini fridge didn't work. If convenience matters more to you than quiet or a good night's sleep, this could still suit you.
