Sofia by Sonder

We had a great stay, with plenty of space and the convenience of a few minutes' walk to the nearest metro and close access to the main train station. That made getting around and taking day trips easy. It felt like a home away from home, especially for a slow, comfortable visit. The room had what we needed, including plates, cutlery, a microwave, and even a washing machine, which made traveling much easier. The downside is that room cleaning and service cost extra and have to be requested, so there's no daily housekeeping like at a hotel.

The room felt high quality and was a convenient base for sightseeing, even though our view was limited because it faced the back. We could also cook light meals there. The fridge was small, and a few extra bin bags would've helped, though it was easy to ask for more. We struggled with the AC at first and eventually learned through the app that it won't run if a window is open. One window was slightly open when we arrived, and the unit was so quiet and slow to start that it was hard to tell if it was working. The TV setup wasn't useful for us either. It had no built-in apps and relied on Chromecast, which I couldn't use with my MacBook or iPhone because of AirPlay compatibility. There was a Lidl right next door and the main city was an easy walk away. We arrived late, but app check-in was smooth. The room was clean, nicely presented, and surprisingly spacious, and the bathroom was lovely with good toiletries.

Sonder Sofia made for a relaxing stay, and we'd definitely recommend it. The room was large and had all the essentials, including a washer-dryer, fridge, dishwasher, a good bathroom, and a big comfortable bed. At the entrance, there's a keypad, luggage lockers, and a water station with cold water and extra supplies for the room. A Lidl on the ground floor has what you might need. On the way to Madrid's center, you pass through lively Lavapies, with restaurants, tapas and cocktail bars, shops, and more. The nearest bus stop is a minute away, Embajadores metro is five minutes on foot, and both Madrid Atocha station and Reina Sofia museum are about a 15-minute walk.

A clean, comfortable apartment with good amenities, smooth check-in, and helpful luggage storage. Its central Madrid location makes it easy to reach sights like the prado, parque retiro, gran via, and more. I'd recommend it for a short visit. We had to buy hand soap because there wasn't any in the bathroom. They didn't respond to our message on their official whatsapp. The shower has no door, so water can easily spread across the floor and make a mess.
