Casa Al Sur Terraza Hostel

The location is handy for the city center, and it's a good budget stay. Reception staff were kind and understanding, and the 12:00 pm checkout was later than at most hostels, which was nice. The amenities were okay, though the shared bathroom shower was a bit broken and water spilled out. Rooms are on the small side. Outside street noise gets loud, and the blackout curtains didn't cover all the windows, so bring earplugs and a sleep mask.

Friendly staff and a cute hostal in a great location. The rooftop breakfast was fantastic and easily worth the €5. You could also buy inexpensive beer, wine, and other drinks in the lobby. Our room had a musty, mildew-like smell, possibly because the bathroom wasn't ventilated well. Opening the windows and running the fan helped, but the odor stayed during our whole visit. I'd absolutely stay here again!

The terrace and room were nice, but people didn't always wear masks in the shared areas 😷. With people coming and going, and the lobby sharing space with the kitchen, it didn't feel very comfortable. Some rooms are noisy while others are quieter, and the bathrooms vary a lot in quality.

We booked a single room with a shared bathroom and got one on the top floor. The terrace was one of my favorite parts, and having breakfast there was peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was 5 euro and good value. The kitchen was well equipped, and we cooked twice. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean. It's an amazing place for the money, just outside the historic center. A few minutes' walk gets you right into the heart of Malaga. There’s no lift, and carrying things up four floors was hard for us with a baby, especially when tired at night. At least they let us leave the buggy at reception. There’s no car parking, but the location just outside the historic center makes it possible, in my opinion, to find parking in the area.
