The privacy curtains were a nice touch, and the place was clean with enough bathrooms, which you can't take for granted on the Camino. Best albergue I stayed in during my Camino.

There's a bar on the ground floor, plus a well-equipped kitchen and a roomy dining area. The bunk beds have privacy curtains too. Highly recommended!

I ordered a pizza in the cafe and was told to be patient. It took 100 minute's, and now it's been 2 hours. Glad the place is very quiet. I'm 63, and this is the worst service I've ever experienced. Good to see all the locals being looked after. Don't come here if you're visiting, and obviously no one staying in their dirty albergue.

Inside, Albergue Valin Lama feels almost new, even though it's on the way out of town on the Camino Francés in a rundown area. It's probably the most underrated albergue in town, and a real gem in a lacklustre place. If I pass through Palas de Rei again, this would be my first choice for a bed. The dormitory bunks are sturdy and new, each with a light, mains power point, and privacy curtain. Bathrooms with toilets, showers, and sinks are spotlessly clean, with plenty of hot water and underfloor heating. There's a kitchen and dining area at the back of the first floor, along with 6 new washing machines. The underfloor heating meant I could hang my clothes in the empty boot room and find them dry in the morning. The albergue is above a bakery and café. Alongside the usual breads and cakes, they make excellent, very large pizzas in store after 19:30. Beer, wine, and coffee are available, and the place is busy with locals day and night, which is a good sign.
