Zendoira - Hostel

I was in the capsule section of a shared room, and the bed itself was comfortable. The paper mattress and pillow covers were odd, though, and the whole floor smelled strongly of bleach. With almost 30 beds, there were just two showers for men and two for women. I’ve never stayed at another hostel that charged a euro to rent a blanket.

The living room is nicely laid out, and the bunks seemed a little roomier than in other places. Being able to charge my phone right at the bed was especially handy on the Camino. At €17 for a bunk, the price felt about average, and what I saw was fairly decent. This is a much larger hostel than the others, though, so it doesn't have the feel of a small family-run inn or guesthouse. Sleeping was difficult. The dorm has too many beds packed in, and without air conditioning it gets hot and stuffy quickly, even with the windows open. The showers were worse: water got everywhere, the door couldn't be shut while showering, hot water was almost impossible to get, and there was nowhere to put your things. After a long day walking, that was frustrating. You'll need to bring your own blanket, soap, and towel. The kitchen is very basic and short on essentials like cutlery and even paper towels. The laundry area was dirty and poorly maintained, so it didn't seem like a good place to wash clothes. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. I wondered if the place had changed ownership, and the average rating surprised and confused me. It felt as if nobody was really in charge. I've seen worse, but I’d find it hard to recommend this hostel as a good option. I think you could get something better for the same price.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the spaces have an interesting Japanese-style design. Just an ordinary albergue. I visited in May 2025.

The bathrooms were dirty, and you can't adjust the shower water temperature. There were no sheets, shower gel, or hair dryer, and the staff behaved very badly. Worst of all, they don't provide any blankets for the beds. You have to pay for one.
