AC Hotel Ciutat de Palma by Marriott

This was a work trip, and the stay really wasn’t what I expect from Marriott. Check-in took ages, even though there weren’t many people waiting. The receptionist kept asking the same questions, and we were all Marriott high members expecting good service. Check-out was extremely slow too, with wrong information and miscommunication between staff. They suggested breakfast at the hotel, but it wasn’t worth the price. The eggs tasted like nothing, and the items weren’t good quality. On sunny days the rooms get extremely hot, and there’s no AC. Opening the window just lets in a lot of noise.

The bed was on a cheap frame that made a loud noise whenever we moved, and after showering we found that our towels smelled of cigarette smoke. Parking isn’t included, which is fine, but taxi drivers yelled at us when we put on the blinkers to unload at the main entrance for a few minutes. We booked through the Marriott Bonvoy App, as usual, because it advertised “complimentary grab n' go breakfast.” At check-in we were told buffet breakfast cost 14 euros extra, and there was no grab-and-go option. We bought food to keep in the room fridge, only to find the fridge in room 408 didn’t work. There was no ice machine. When we asked at night, we were given small amounts of ice a couple of times, but it melted quickly and the extra food we’d bought went to waste. An unpleasant stay with unnecessary added costs.

The location is superb, close to bars, restaurants, and the marina. The hotel is modern and immaculately clean, and the staff are incredible. I’d gladly go back.

The rooms are clean and nice, and breakfast is good. But the staff were unfriendly and unwilling to help. I asked for an invoice with my VAT number and was told at checkout they’d email it to me. It never arrived. When I called the hotel, they said they couldn’t help.
