Portixol Hotel y Restaurante

We live in Mallorca, don't even stay at the hotel, and keep coming back for the restaurant. The food is elegant without being fussy, and really delicious. Great ingredients are brought out beautifully by the chef's team. Try the tartar, tempura shrimp, and raviolis caseros. The room is relaxed even though the restaurant feels refined and stylish. Start with a drink at the bar. Eduardo is said to be the best bartender on the island. Service also feels wonderfully warm, from the hostess and wait staff to Marisela, who was an attentive, thoughtful server and couldn't have done a better job.

The windowless room cost me €250 for one night, 6/7 Oct, for a solo business trip. I only needed a single room, not a larger suite, but the rate felt steep for how the stay went. At that price, I would have done better in Palma, for example at Hotel Cappuccino, which I highly recommend. The waiting and bar staff were friendly and attentive. At the front desk, though, the welcome, warmth, and professionalism fell short of what this hotel used to offer and what I'd expect at this level. It left me disappointed and less keen to return, even though my family had made this a favorite for over a decade. Mallorca itself is still utterly beautiful. I usually recommend booking directly with a hotel, but here I'd look for deals on aggregator sites. The full rack rates don't seem justified given what competitors in Palma offer. Better front desk service might have eased my mixed feelings. The hotel used to have a personal touch and attention to detail that now seem lacking.

Even in winter, the sea view is lovely, and walking around to enjoy the season is so relaxing 🌹🎄. The location is very convenient.

A note for anyone hoping for a quiet, relaxing break: like almost all hotels in Spain, this one is very child-friendly. Also, if you're driving, expect possible delays at busy times because free parking spaces are scarce. We spent five days here and found it charming, with friendly service throughout, tasty food, and an idyllic setting. For a four-star hotel, it was very good value and I'd recommend it.
