Hotel Don Candido

This is a small, very nice hotel in a quiet spot. I believe it's family-owned, and it's within walking distance of Puerto de la Cruz centre and the seafront. The staff are super friendly, there's a swimming pool, and breakfast is continental each morning at a very reasonable price. The rooms are simple, but you're not going to spend your Tenerife holiday watching TV. The beds are comfortable for a good night's sleep, and the private bathroom has hot water to get you refreshed for another day of exploring, having fun, and enjoying fantastic food.

For 28 euros a night, the price makes up for a lot. The staff were nice, and it was amazing value, though parking could be a problem if the hotel is full. You have to park on the street. A woman from the neighborhood was borderline harassing us, and I'm not sure what that was about. The hotel isn't in a central "tourist" area. The cleaning chemicals are really intense, so be careful if you're allergic or sensitive. It's a typical kind of building with no sound insulation, and staff leave at 10:30 pm. Rowdy guests anywhere in the hotel can be heard clearly, and nobody will stop them.

The rooftop view of Mt. Teide was amazing, and the well-kept pool was open from 10:00 to 19:00. The hotel was in a quiet residential area, just right for relaxing as I'd planned. I stayed from August 26 to August 30 during peak season. It was relatively cheap, so I hadn't expected much, but I had a single room with my own bathroom and toilet, and the owner was very kind. I needed hot water and asked if they had a coffee pot. They brought one to my room for me to use. I was very satisfied with the trip, and if I return to Tenerife, I'll definitely book here again. Highly recommended 👍🏽

Breakfast was okay, but the quality was questionable. My room, 104, was noisy all day because its adjoining wall was next to the reception desk. I could hear a noisy woman at reception and people constantly walking up and down the stairs. If you're in a room near reception, you'll hear it all day. It wasn't relaxing or pleasant. There are no cafés or bars close by. The bars are 1.5 km away, down very steep hills, which isn't good if you have bad knees. A taxi costs €4 each way, and needing four taxi rides a day is no option. I might as well have paid more for a closer hotel. The vending machine in reception was being used at 1 am and 2 am, waking me every night.
