Hospedium Plaza Mayor Salamanca

Everything was easy to reach on foot from this central spot, and there are bars, cafes and breakfast places just downstairs. We got a friendly welcome and had a comfortable room with what we needed, though nothing fancy. The blackout blinds and soundproofing meant we slept really well even during fiesta time. There was a simple shower with complimentary shampoo and shower gel, plus a hairdryer, TV, air conditioning, comfortable beds, fresh towels and daily bed-making. You can use either the lift or the stairs.

Marina at reception was outstanding and went out of her way to help. She showed us other rooms, but they were all much the same. We had booked for two nights based on the photos, and the actual rooms were small, old and dark, with a musty smell in the building. You also have to climb a flight of stairs to enter. This felt like a hostel, not a hotel. Management refused a refund, so we lost the cost of both nights.

The rooms were nice and the location at Hospedium Plaza Mayor is hard to beat. The staff were so friendly and helped me get to and from the nearby secure parking. I had a great stay.

Location: 10/10. Staff: 10/10. Parking: 5/10, as it’s a bit away, staff have to come with you to access it, and the entrance and ramp to the lower levels are very narrow. Rooms: 3/10. For 85 euros, I could have stayed somewhere much better. My own fault for not looking more carefully. I wouldn’t recommend it or return, despite the great location and staff.
