Hotel Parma

We won’t be returning to San Sebastián after this. We thought we’d booked secure hotel parking through Okemba via Telpark, but our car was left unlocked and a block or two away, with no security staff around. Someone smashed the quarter-light overnight, leaving glass everywhere and cutting me. Our Lexus alarm would have been deafening, yet we didn’t see anyone when we went to collect it. From the car park reviews I read afterward, these break-ins seemed to be a regular, recent problem. Why offer this parking at all? The receptionist was kind and helped us vacuum up the glass, then patch the gap with cardboard and sellotape before our nine-hour drive to Andalusia. She seemed almost as if she’d done this before. The day before, when we arrived exhausted after a long drive, we’d been vaguely advised to park with the boot facing the wall and leave nothing in the car. They knew about the risk. I wish we’d challenged them, but we just needed to rest. Thanks, Hotel Parma!

We had a clean, comfortable room with everything we needed, and the staff were friendly and professional whenever we needed directions or recommendations. The hotel is also a handy base, only a short walk from both the Old Town and the beach. We’d happily stay at Hotel Parma again on another trip to San Sebastián. Good value and a warm welcome.

We only stayed one night as part of a Camino tour, which was enough for us. The rooms were very basic, though breakfast was good. Some of the staff were lovely, others less so. It’s a standard, no-frills hotel that does the job.

The hotel’s location was just right, close to the old town and with the new city right across the bridge. I could even hear the sea from my room. I spent two nights here and really enjoyed them. The staff were welcoming and hospitable, and as soon as they realised I wasn’t comfortable speaking Spanish, they switched straight to English.
