It's a beautiful, peaceful place, but there's no restaurant and it's miles from Santallina, which is packed and very hard to park in. The nearby zoo meant we fell asleep to lions roaring. It was a bit warm without air conditioning, and a fridge for cold drinks and a kettle for morning tea would have been useful.

The heated pool and the location were both a plus, with Santillana a 10-minute walk away and the Altamira Cave about 20 minutes on foot. We had a nice room with a balcony, though the comfortable bed was a little small. The owner was very friendly, and breakfast was adequate.

This was a great find, with a beautiful building, a welcoming lounge, and a roomy, charming room. There's ample parking, and Santillana is around a 15-minute walk away. Our room had a sofa and a wardrobe with plenty of hangers. The bed was very comfortable, the pillow was comfortable too, and there were extra blankets in case it got cold. The bathroom had a shower, and plenty of towels, shower gel, and shampoo were provided. Breakfast was a full continental spread with everything we could need. The hotel manager kept an eye on our comfort and shared plenty of tips for places nearby. Cleaning and breakfast arrangements seemed efficient: you could leave your key ring with your room number on a board to request cleaning, and put a token with your room number in a box the day before for breakfast. When we asked for cleaning, the room was left perfectly tidy. We felt right at home, and had a truly unbeatable stay.
