Hotel Goya

Tiny room, tiny bed, and no windows. You can hear everything outside, especially on the first floor, where the seating area is just beyond the doors. There isn't much in the room: no coffee maker, just cups and soap, with one dispenser in the shower. Fewer amenities than I've had at other two-star hotels. If you just need somewhere inexpensive to sleep, it'll do.

There are lots of tapas bars and restaurants nearby, and the hotel sits in the old part of the city, which is very convenient. The procession of the Virgin went right past the hotel on October 19th. It's a significant event.

The smell in the room, which carried down the hallway, was awful. I don't know where it came from, and I don't want to know, but surely the people working there can smell it too. Nobody should have to sleep somewhere that reeks like that. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, and didn't make us feel welcome at all. They acted hostile toward guests. I doubt they had even had basic training for the job. If they had, that would make it even more concerning. They clearly don't understand hospitality, and should consider a different line of work. The owner or GM needs to take this feedback seriously, train the staff in basic courtesy, and fix the problems. My companions had the same experience, and I expect there'll be more reviews like this if nothing changes. I've travelled often, visited countless destinations on different continents, and stayed in over 1,000 hotels across around 50 countries. Hotel Goya was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, in Spain, Europe, or anywhere else in the world. It's a disgrace to the hospitality industry and to tourism in Seville, Andalucia, Spain. This has been a uniquely bad experience. Thank you.

Fernando and the other staff were great, and the rooms were super clean with a good bed and pillows. The hotel isn't modern in its look, but it's nicely decorated and has its own charm. It's centrally located, close to centro Sevilla.
