Hostal El Rincon De Carlota

The room and bathroom were nice and clean, and the hostel is being redecorated with new windows, which is good. It’s in a quiet area, about a 15-minute walk from the city centre. But we asked for a quiet room and got one downstairs by the street and reception. The staff didn’t speak English, despite the listing saying they did. We booked because airport transfers were offered, but they said they didn’t provide one and called a regular taxi instead. It cost 28 euros. I’d wanted to leave a good review, but these things changed my mind.

Mrs. Luisa, the manager, was especially kind and attentive, and the service throughout was excellent. The hostel is central, very clean, and the room was comfortable with everything I needed: air conditioning, a fan, TV, and Wi-Fi. It also had a great atmosphere. I had a wonderful stay. If I were rating it, I’d give it 10/10.

The room was damp and very musty, even with the window open, and for what it cost I expected better quality. There was a stained, wet bedspread, hair on the bathroom wall tiles, and rotten grout. The mirror and ceiling were coated in what looked like weeks of dust. I even found old chewing gum on the shower rod, and the toilet wasn’t properly clean.

The photos don’t show what it’s really like. Our room was tiny and filthy, and the sheets didn’t look clean. The bathroom was even worse. It was incredibly noisy too, with the pipes squeaking. Filthy everywhere, absolutely awful. I’m writing this so people know what to expect, though it hardly deserves a rating. Don’t go. I’ll never come back.
