We booked together as three women, but when we arrived they split us up and put two of us in a room with men. The staff weren’t accommodating and wouldn’t help. We then had to deal with inappropriate men sleeping naked. We’d planned to stay three nights and left after just one. The beds were broken, the tap water was brown, the bathroom was falling apart, and the whole place was disgusting. Afterwards, the owner said none of what we’d experienced was true and that we shouldn’t expect a nice place when booking a hostel. I’d give it zero stars if I could. Avoid it completely.

The location is great, and the place is still functional, but the facilities are dire. In my private room, the shower had an empty travel shampoo bottle left by the previous user, and there was toothpaste up the wall. The bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned and smelled bad. The room walls had lots of damp, and the decor was pretty hideous, though that wasn’t a major issue for me.

The location was the only good part. We left after the first night because the sleeping arrangements were awful and the situation made us so uncomfortable. Three women had booked together to share a mixed room, but they split us up and said nothing could be done. The men in the mixed room slept naked that first night. We complained about the broken AC, the bathroom stall not working, brown water from the sink, the sleeping conditions and the booking mix-up. When I raised it, he told me I wasn’t telling the truth. They neither offered nor allowed a partial refund. I wouldn’t recommend this to women or anyone who wants to sleep. Zero out of five if I could.

The roof terrace is nice, with a limited view of the cathedral. The ensuite room had no drawers or cupboards, just wall hooks and no coat hangers. There wasn’t a small table for using a laptop or any chairs, and the common kitchen was large but poorly equipped. The decor is pretty crappy.

The decor is quirky and original, a welcome change from lots of hotels and hostels. It’s a very central spot, just a three-minute walk from the cathedral, tapas bars, restaurants and other sights. Everything’s within walking distance, and it’s quite cheap, so I’d stay again on another visit. You can hear horses going by since the hotel is on a horse-drawn carriage route, but it didn’t bother us much. Worked perfectly for a few nights.
