Hotel Marins Playa Suites - Adults Only

The noise was on another level, probably the loudest hotel I’ve stayed in. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything. Breakfast was alright, and for the price the quality was decent. The staff were very friendly, and they fixed our clogged shower, but afterward they forgot to clean up the huge pile of black hair left on the floor. Not great. For the price, I guess it’s okay, but unfortunately we won’t be back.

The breakfast spread was lovely, set by the pool with juices, ginger and lemon infused water, tea, and coffee. There was plenty to choose from, including warm bread fresh from the oven, sweet pastries, fruit, vegetables, eggs, and waffles. The ground floor meant we could get to breakfast early, even though we’d have preferred a higher floor. We still had a beautiful view. We stayed at MARIN SUITES, the adults-only part of the hotel. It has a calmer feel than Marin Playa, which seemed more aimed at families and pensioners, while Marin Suites suited couples or families with older children. It wasn’t clear that check-in for both was at Marin Playa, though. Our room was spacious, modern, and comfortable, with a simple, neat design. I liked the warm rattan sideboards, the quality wooden table, and the cozy hanging lampshade. The bed and mattress were so comfortable I had a really restful sleep. The welcome area gave a warm holiday feeling, and the bathrobes left on the bed were a thoughtful touch. The large terrace was enjoyable, but a rack or hanger would have been handy for wet towels and swimwear. For the price, I’d also have liked a few more basics, such as slippers, a comb, a razor, or a shower cap. We had a wonderful stay and I’d definitely recommend it.

The hotel was wonderful and well worth five stars. The airport transfer taxi company was the one letdown. The cars were too small for four people, the drivers weren’t very helpful, and at night they unloaded our bags into the middle of the street after parking there. The driving also felt poor, with fast cornering and rapid acceleration and braking.

The hotel was clean, the pools were good, and the cleaners were lovely. Our room was cleaned daily, and visiting at the end of August meant it wasn’t too busy. The location was good, about a 10-minute walk to the center of the shops. It’s very German-focused, with most entertainment in German, so that’s great if you speak it. The kids’ mini disco ran from 8:30 to 9, then the main entertainment was about 9:30 to 10 or 10:30, too late for our 4-year-old. We had a room issue that was a health and safety concern, but they wanted to charge us to move rooms, which was disappointing. We got little information at check-in beyond the dining hall times, so we only discovered the bike hire, mini golf, and games room near the end of our stay.
