Hotel Conqueridor

We booked through the hotel's website and got a welcome drink and late checkout, both nice little extras. There was also a free bottle of water, though I feel water should be provided to every guest as a necessity, not a perk. The room and bathroom were very spacious, and the room was definitely clean, but there were visible scratches on the wall and a few other signs it could use more upkeep. Check-in was surprisingly quick, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent too, with bus and metro stations close by and the historic area within walking distance. I had a nice weekend stay.

The weak wifi kept dropping out, and we could hear our neighbors slamming their door. The rooms are mostly soundproof, but that noise was disturbing. Otherwise, I had no major issues and would gladly stay again. The hotel is clean, with a nicely decorated lobby; our room was spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathroom quite large. Breakfast had a broad choice of sweet and savory food. It's central too, around a 7-8 minute walk from the train station.

The historic center is nearby and the location is fine, but at almost 200 EUR a night, this hotel is nowhere near worth the price. Maybe it would be acceptable under 100 EUR. I can't see how it got an 8.7 rating on Booking.com. This is easily the worst four-star hotel I've stayed in. The staff are generally friendly, the room is an OK size, and the AC works without too much noise. The beds are somewhat hard, and recent (?) renovations already show wear. Everything seems to be the cheapest standard: linen, soap, tea and coffee. There's no water except in the overpriced minibar. The soundproofing seems nonexistent, so you hear a lot going on around you. The view at the back is almost as bad as it gets; only a garbage dump or sewage treatment plant would be worse. Breakfast wasn't good either. The Nescafe machine makes terrible instant powder coffee, and the rest is only a little better, again seeming as cheap as possible. There was even a star missing from the sign at the entrance, which feels telling. I'd recommend avoiding this hotel.

The rooms are comfortable, and the hotel is in a great central location. It's a mid-range four-star place. Service was mediocre to good, depending on who was working. I'd definitely return for the location.
