Hotel Ilunion Aqua 4

The location deserves five stars. As a hotel, though, this felt more like a two-star stay than a four-star one. The furniture has seen better days, there was a hole in the wall, and dust was all over the room and corridors. The bathroom was decent apart from green mould and an odd shower setup. Housekeeping was VERY noisy in the mornings. They moved a trolley loaded with bottles, so you can imagine the clatter, slammed doors, and talked loudly to each other as they visited between floors. Trying to nap around 3-4 pm was almost impossible. I asked reception for a shower cap and they had none. I asked again later, still nothing. They insisted on getting my room number, so I gave them 301. At 7 the next morning!!!, a young guy came to the door, visibly agitated, with a tiny box. We woke up, already unhappy, and found it was empty. I took it down to reception and spoke with Veronica. She apologized, but there was still no shower cap or any toiletries. I called him a funny lad because I watched him clean. He had one little mop, which he somehow used to clean the floors in all three lifts up to reception, the lift buttons, a bit of floor in front of the lift, and part of the door into the Aqua 4 reception. Yesterday, 29th of January, the reception and lobby were “offered” to a group of 7-8 people to sleep on sofas and chairs and use as a room. They took their shoes off. The whole scene was grotesque. I don't know why they were allowed to stay like that, or why the other customers had to put up with it. It came across as unprofessional.

The hotel sits within a shopping centre, so shops and restaurants, mostly chains, are right nearby. Buses and taxis are close; the metro is about a 15-minute walk. It’s well placed for Valencia’s museum area, though less convenient for the old town. The rooms are fairly spacious, and the bathrooms are nice, though I'm not a fan of the sliding bathroom door. Breakfast was okay but bland to me, and the small hot-food section was lukewarm at best. Staff were friendly enough.

Traveling with our child, we found the location very convenient. The Oceanogràfic and City of Arts and Sciences are only a 10-minute walk away, and nearby there’s a shopping mall with a playground, several restaurants, and a bus station just outside. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a nice city view. Breakfast offered lots of choice, and we also enjoyed the restaurant food. We had a wonderful stay in Valencia, and it was a great choice for our family.

We stayed one night as part of a tour group. The room was clean, though small, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast included eggs made to order. The hotel is part of a shopping centre complex and is well located for the City of Arts and Sciences. There were no bathroom amenities, pool, restaurant, or fitness room. Fine for a single night.
