La Casa Vieja de Vizmalo

The house itself is large, attractive, and so well insulated that there was no cell service, even out in the garden. The Wi-Fi was offered as an alternative, but it was so unreliable that we kept having to reset the router. On sunny days the garden was an oven. There are just a few olive trees for shade, and the grass is artificial. We liked the downstairs living room's large dining table and how well equipped that area was, including a projector. The barbecue porch, though, had only a low table and another one that was broken, so eating there wasn't possible and we had to carry everything inside. The bedrooms were our least favorite part. Each has its own bathroom, which is handy, but the whole bathroom is open to the room, toilet included. One person could be using it while the other could see and smell everything. Cleanliness was questionable too. The visible areas looked clean, but the shower platforms that looked like wood were best avoided, so we wore flip-flops. The cobwebs in the corners didn't look like they were only a day or two old. This place wasn't for us, and we won't be back.

Eight of us were left without our weekend away after learning, just four days before the trip, that the property had been double-booked. We'd already arranged everything, bought food, and requested time off work. After a phone call and an email, the only option they gave us was a refund, supposedly to be processed in two to four days. That leaves very little time to find accommodation with the same conditions, and likely no refund money in hand yet, so we'd have to spend twice as much in the meantime. Both the Holidu app and the host of the rural house 'La Casa Vieja De Vizmalo' are responsible for putting us in this position.

The supposed replacement made this even more upsetting. After several conversations, the host offered us a friend's house for the same price as our booking, which was significantly higher, even though we found it on another platform for €200 less. We feel "scammed and deceived" by that alternative. We'd booked for eight people two months ahead, for the weekend of February 6, 2026. With only four days left, after taking time off work, buying food, and making all the arrangements, we were told the property had been double-booked. After a call and an email, there was no other solution beyond a refund, which they said would take two to four days. We had to look for comparable accommodation at very short notice, presumably before the money came back, which could mean paying twice. It's Tuesday, this happened yesterday, and we still have no solution or money. Neither the Holidu app nor the host of the rural house, 'La Casa Vieja De Vizmalo', has offered any further help.

Four days before our stay, they left us without a house, saying someone else had booked it months earlier. Nothing about that deserves a positive or negative review. DISAPPOINTED
