Hotel Monumento Almenara de Copau

I spent five nights here on a business trip after changing my plans for a quieter stay outside the city center. The staff made it memorable: they went out of their way to make me comfortable and feel at home. I had dinner in the restaurant each night, and the meals were always enjoyable, with some nice Spanish wines to go with them. Thanks to everyone for a lovely stay. I hope to come back! 😊

The hotel is close to the autoroute on the outskirts of Zaragoza, and it was a lovely, unusual stop on our drive south through Spain. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to help. The place was exceptionally clean, and the garden at the back has some old renovated vehicles that were great to see. We also enjoyed the evening meal and British highly recommended. Old buildings like this have a few flaws. The lights aren't super-bright LEDs and the waterworks aren't as efficient. If modern places like Holiday Inn are more your thing, this may not suit you, but I'd absolutely book it again.

Our stay was fine at first, but the hotel overcharged us. They agreed that they had and still haven't paid the money back. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for two weeks, and they keep saying they'll return it, but we still haven't received anything. Really poor behavior, and I wouldn't recommend them.

From 5 Sept to 6 Sept, we stayed at Almenara De Copau, and had a wonderful time. After six days of traveling and a string of B & Bs, we finally got a really good night's sleep. The room had a very comfortable bed and pillow, lovely character, a TV, coffee maker, and a remote-controlled ceiling fan. It was cosy too. The bathroom was big, with soft, fluffy bath and hand towels and a flannel, plus shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion. We got a very warm welcome from the lady at reception. We were hungry after traveling so far, and even though the restaurant wasn't open, she made us a lovely salad for a late lunch. All the staff were friendly, polite, and accommodating. They took time to talk with guests and made us feel valued. There was a lovely dining room and a really nice breakfast room. Breakfast was buffet-style, with fresh soft, crusty bread and a range of toppings, as well as a cooked breakfast. There were several teas, coffee, and fresh orange juice, and plenty to eat. The hotel sits in lovely green grounds, with fruit trees and a small allotment where they grow tomatoes and other things. At the back of the large garden, there are Volkswagen vans, a 'Herbie' VW car, and a few others. An old rusted bus beside them looks like a piece of art and adds character to the hotel. Parking is within the grounds, and the gate is locked late in the evening to secure cars. You get a key to the gate if you need to go out or return while it's locked. We'd highly recommend staying here.
