The lobby worked well for meeting friends and relatives, and I also saw people getting work done there in a comfortable setting. The gym was well equipped and ventilated, with all the machines working. Breakfast was fresh each day, and the wait staff looked after us at every meal. What really made the stay was how everyone treated us. From welcoming us and showing us the different room types to keeping things clean, the staff were friendly throughout. Sbele Demisse, who supervises cleaning, was especially attentive and kind, and clearly focused on customer service. People across the departments went further than we expected to make our visit pleasant. We usually stay with family when we visit Addis Ababa, but this stay at Desalegn hotel may change that. I use a CPAP machine, so a steady power supply matters a lot. Even during several power fluctuations, the electricity stayed on. We were treated just as well despite the many dignitaries and royalty in Addis Ababa for the African Union conference. The Countryside Lodge is a peaceful spot surrounded by lovely scenery, a welcome break from the busy city. My room was comfortable, well equipped, and clean, with thoughtful attention to detail that made it feel homey. I was especially impressed by how helpful and friendly the staff were. They were attentive from the moment I arrived and made sure my requests were taken care of. There are several ways to spend your time, including nature trails, outdoor sports, or relaxing by the pool. The restaurant serves tasty local food, too. I had a great stay at Desalegn lodge Gurage Zone and would recommend it for a countryside getaway with comfortable rooms, good service, and plenty to do.

Not worth the money. The shower in my room didn't work, and it took them ages to sort it out or offer me another room with a working one. When I mentioned my stay the next day, they said they could give me a better room, but one night was enough for me. I asked for the manager and was told the manager had quit and they didn't have one. Customer service was basically nonexistent.
