The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were friendly, and there’s an airport shuttle. It’s also a convenient base for seeing Ethiopia. But I got seriously ill after breakfast here. I ate around 6 a.m., and by about 10 I had severe stomach pain. Around 3 p.m. my fever was over 38°C. I can’t be completely certain, but I believe the breakfast caused food poisoning. It was my first meal in Ethiopia. I couldn’t move, had to cancel all my plans in Addis Ababa, and spent the rest of my time there in the hotel until my flight. The hotel served food that I believe made me sick, then charged me extra for late checkout and gave me no compensation. They even said this was common for people coming from China, Korea, and Japan. Travelers from countries with proper food hygiene standards should be careful here. You might get food poisoning.

We used this place as our base during a trip around Ethiopia and Djibouti, staying here four times because it’s close to the airport. The people are nice, breakfast is good, and the bedding was fresh. They also provide a free shuttle to and from the airport. We’ll definitely stay again.

A good budget option close to the airport, with a free shuttle there and back. Message them on WhatsApp to arrange it. The restaurant is open 24 hours and has a fairly wide Ethiopian and Western menu. Breakfast was good, and I had no complaints about the room or bed.

The staff’s kindness and generosity made the biggest impression on me. Their respect and warmth went well beyond what I’d expect from basic service, and every interaction made me feel appreciated. I’ll remember their genuine hospitality. I stayed three days in Ethiopia at Vamose Addis Hotel, and was glad I’d booked it. The modern, spacious rooms were really comfortable too.
