The pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, and serene spa offer a welcome escape from the city’s hustle. Planet Hotel Meqelle feels like a world-class sanctuary, pairing modern sophistication with the warmth of Tigrayan hospitality. The rooms are grand, with plush bedding, modern technology, and large windows overlooking Mekelle’s skyline. From its distinctive architecture to its luxurious interiors, the place feels elegant throughout. The staff provide a real sense of 'royalty' treatment, with unmatched attention to detail and guest satisfaction. For Northern Ethiopia, this is the gold standard for luxury, a five-star experience in every sense.

We asked to change rooms because ours was extremely dirty, and we were only staying for one night. The first room’s carpet was covered in stains, dirt, food residue, and more, and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned or even vacuumed in quite a while. The shower and sink were moldy, and the whole room felt musty and dirty. At first, the employee said she would clean the carpet the next morning. After we went back to reception and asked another employee for a different room, they showed us two more, but they were just as extremely dirty as the first. We were traveling with another person, and their room was dirty too, which made it seem like the whole hotel was dirty. We decided to cancel our stay, leave immediately, and go somewhere else. Very glad we did. I repeat, do not stay here. The dirtiest hotel we’ve ever experienced.

The pool bar and 10th floor lounge were the real highlights for us. We hadn’t expected such a great view from the lounge and would definitely recommend staying here. We really enjoyed our stay at Planet hotel, with clean rooms and nice staff.
