The building has a very individual style, with the log walls left exposed even after the complete renovation. Merilinna was originally a coast guard base, finished in 1935, and the original structures have been kept. It has modern code locks and six rooms, including two suites and one family room. There are also two courtyard saunas that anyone can rent, not just hotel guests. For food, the Magasin restaurant is in Toranda's main building, a short walk away. It serves lunch on weekdays year-round, and opens on weekends in summer.
