Rainforest Eco Lodge

Loved the peaceful, quiet feel, and it was a little cooler than Suva. It was cheap as chips and only a short walk from Suva town centre. Absolutely brilliant, I'll DEFO be back.

The room was adequate, and I appreciate that this is a budget venue, but basic comfort and privacy still matter. My mattress was lumpy and the sheet edges were frayed. The camp kitchen was short of basic tools, and it felt like the focus was on getting guests to eat at the restaurant. I have an extreme medical condition that means I can't shower in cold water. The website promised hot water, which is why I chose this property, but there was no hot water on 3 of my 6 nights. Rats in the roof and wall cavity woke me every night. When I raised it with staff, they said, "well, they need to live somewhere." Internet service was poor; after 3 days without it, Management provided a personal Router. Thank you. The restaurant is open to the public, and on 3 nights private functions meant I couldn't sit in as a guest. Local children often took over the guest pool outside my unit, even at night. The area by the pool with the staff Hungi Pit smelled of stale refuse and was covered in trash. Many staff seemed ambivalent and didn't understand guest concerns.

We had a wonderful, comfortable stay in Suva, Fiji. The hotel was beautiful and suited us well, and my kids really enjoyed the amazing pool.

The restaurant was the letdown: it wasn't cheap, the food quality was lacking, and most menu items weren't available. In the dish I ordered, three of the four components were missing or replaced, and the taste disappointed me. They also had no change when I wanted to pay cash. We'd been a little wary because of the negative reviews, but the room surprised us in a good way. It was small, clean, air-conditioned, and had a fridge. The bed seemed a bit old and the walls were paper-thin, though. Most of the staff were very friendly, and the room worked well enough for budget accommodation.
