The Pearl Resort & Spa

Dinner came with a live performance each night, and we liked the spa so much we went twice. The resort is beautiful, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. There are activities every day, both free and paid, and the main entrance has a lift, which makes it very accessible. It’s a bit of a drive from the airport, but the service makes the journey worthwhile. The staff go out of their way to welcome you, and they even remember your name. Vi naka 🩷

The beach and views are amazing, and the resort has plenty of room to relax. I’ve stayed here four times because it’s in Pacific Harbour, about an hour from Suva and 2.5 hours from Nadi. It has a laid-back feel, a large family pool, and a separate adults-only pool. The beach and ocean are just a few steps away. It’s good for families, with an open layout and spacious bedrooms with balconies, though the bathroom and shower are small. This trip the shower drain had an issue, but maintenance came and fixed it. Food was average, with a limited menu. It was better and offered more choices the first time I came a few years ago. The pool bar and drinks were okay. Weddings and events are common, and each of my stays has coincided with a wedding, corporate function, or Miss Fiji pageant, which is disruptive for paying guests. On this trip they also seemed to have added day bus trips for visitors, making the pool and restaurant very busy when busloads arrived. It’s a good spot for a relaxing break, but there’s a lot of potential for it to be better.

The resort has a pleasant sea area for a swim, with shallow water, and the gardens are spacious, with manicured lawns and woodlands. It’s close to Suva city, and the rooms and amenities were comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast buffet was tasty, and the food at the other restaurants was good too. I enjoyed my stay and think it’s worth a visit.

Relaxing by the pool with cocktails and food brought over, among the palms and huts, really felt like paradise. The resort is spacious, the staff are welcoming, and it never felt too crowded. There’s a separate adults-only wing with an infinity pool overlooking the beach and Beqa island. The daily activities board offers a lot, though events only go ahead if enough people join. Ani at the activities desk and Adi at the tour desk are both lovely and helpful. I’d be cautious with tours, though: safety risks aren’t always explained, and they aren’t as safe or organized as in Aus, so bring safety equipment or use caution. Breakfast is a generous buffet by the marina with a beautiful view. My favorite meal was at the five-star restaurant at the Deli. The chef’s food was better than anything I’ve tasted back home. Cocktails and bar service were amazing, with a long list of drinks, and there’s soothing live music each night. Cash is preferred, and cards get a 3% charge even with a currency pass. They don’t advertise all the resort offers very well, but they’ll give you a list of the daily activities when you book. Fire dancing was great, and the New Year’s Eve fireworks on the beach after a special buffet dinner with never-ending champagne were the best end to our trip. Bulla and Vanaka are used around the resort, along with “Fiji time,” which helps you settle into a relaxed holiday. Be patient, unwind, and enjoy how friendly and welcoming everyone is.
