La Baume-Les-Aix

It’s closed, see the pictures. One star just so I can share this information.

The former convent has stunning architecture, and the staff were very pleasant. My room felt a little like a boarding school, though the bedding was very good and there was even a small fan. The shared bathroom looked a bit worn but worked perfectly well. Breakfast was good, with only sweet things to eat, which suited me, plus a nice range of drinks. For the price, it was perfect.

A beautiful historic place, with lovely walks nearby during the shoulder seasons. Hotel De La-Baume in Aix-en-Provence is about 3 km from Parc Jourdan and 4 km from the Granet Museum. It has free parking and a restaurant, and every room has a toilet and shower. Breakfast is served daily in the restaurant.

The rooms were far too hot, and everything felt dated. Even at 35 euros, it seemed really expensive. It was also noisy all night: the pipes were loud, people ran and shouted in the corridors, talked, slammed doors, and we could hear the people on the third floor having sex from the second. So much for a quiet place. There was no surveillance. Avoid it.
