Résidence Carlton

The staff were really pleasant, and the location is great, with the train station about 7 minutes away and the seafront about 5. I also liked the big bathtub, the separate bathroom and toilet, and the terrace looking out over the garden. But the constant bathroom flooding made the stay a lot harder than it should have been. After every shower, around 2-3 cm of water spread across an area roughly 2 meters wide. I spent about 15 minutes mopping it up by hand each time. The plumbing needs replacing, and this was simply unacceptable on vacation. The hotel says it was renovated in 2023, but it still feels very outdated and needs a full refurbishment, as the attached photos show. The bathroom mirror is set so far back into the wall that I couldn't get close enough to see my face, so I had to use the hallway mirror. There was plenty of tableware, but no basic cutting board for fruit. And despite the generous space, there wasn't a proper wardrobe. The cabinets that could have worked for clothes were full of dishes. French Riviera hotels seem to keep charging good money for outdated properties. Without the repeated flooding, I would have rated it higher.
