We ended our three-night booking after just one night and moved to another hotel. We’d been awake for hours because mosquitoes kept biting us, and there were at least ten in the room when we woke after five hours. My wife killed most of them, but the building’s humidity and lack of ventilation seemed to suit them perfectly. I even had a panic attack. The second photo shows the ridiculous English translation of the rules. The first is a tissue with my tears and a mosquito. It was 38 degrees Celsius when we arrived, and our room didn’t feel worth the nightly price at all. There was only a fan about the size of my head, and a dead mosquito in the nightstand. Later, when the temperature fell by 10 degrees, we opened the windows hoping to sleep. That didn’t work out. I know a hotel room is mainly for sleeping, not spending all day in, but I really wish I’d managed to sleep. Getting in was a problem too. Hotel du Parc is on a quiet street near the city centre, but the doorbell didn’t work, so we were stuck outside until we called and reached the receptionist. I wouldn’t come here in summer, and I’d steer clear if you don’t want what felt like a real scam. We cut the stay short and booked du theatre instead, which I highly recommend.

Nothing fancy, but the location is good and the rooms are clean and cozy.

It’s an old place and not very comfortable, from the bed to the toilet, so I wouldn’t stay more than two nights. Still, for a quick stop it’s fine because one night is cheap. I stayed two nights. The location is amazing, about a 20-minute walk from the city centre, and the hotel is old but clean.

It’s a handy base for a weekend when you’ll mostly be out exploring. It’s very central and cheap, and the beds are mostly comfortable. You get what you’d expect for the price, though there aren’t any brownie points here. The reception feels like a ghost town and doesn’t seem to be staffed much. There’s a mystery doorbell to get inside. The decor is old school at best, the bathroom had no light so I had to shower in the dark, and there’s no ventilation in the room. At night it’s mosquito central. I’ve given it an extra star because of the cost and the low expectations that come with it.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The rooms weren’t good, and the staff were rude. I don’t see how they’re still in business. The location is okay, but Bordeaux has good public transport anyway. On my first day, the woman I met seemed impatient with my poor French. That happens, but the room smelled strongly, the Wi-Fi never worked, and the halls were noisy, with people shouting and walking around. Around 9:30 the next morning, cleaning staff woke me by opening my door. The day after that, someone knocked while I was showering. When I opened the door as soon as I could, the same woman asked snarkily if I was deaf for not answering. In a bad mood, she told me it was cleaning time and that I had to be out by exactly 10 the next day, my last one, as if sleeping in or staying in my room in the morning was a problem. There were no “do not disturb” signs. The room also smelled bad, and I never got working Wi-Fi. People screamed and walked in the hallways, so there was a lot of noise. I had a worse experience getting there than I expected, and the rest of the stay didn’t improve. The woman who greeted me on day one seemed impatient about my poor French, though I tried to let it go. Then the next morning at about 9:30, cleaning staff opened the door and woke me up. On the following morning, while I was showering, I heard a knock. I opened up as quickly as I could, and the woman from the first day asked in a snarky way if I was deaf because I hadn’t answered sooner. She was in a bad mood and said it was time to clean the room. She also told me I had to leave by 10 sharp the next day, even though that was my last day, as if staying in my room or sleeping late was an issue. There weren’t any “do not disturb” signs.
