B B Hotel Bethune Bruay La Buissiere

The new bathrooms are a big improvement, and the hot water problem from before seems to be sorted. We’ve stayed here before and still find it a lovely place overall. This time the WiFi was unusable, though, and the shortage of pillows is still an issue. The receptionist was amazing, while the breakfast attendant came across a bit brusque. There’s a nice walk through the fields in the morning.

The parking is excellent, and the hotel is just over an hour from Calais, so it’s well placed. It’s also quiet, with food nearby ranging from fast food to restaurants. My room was clean and welcoming, though the WiFi was a little weak on the second floor. I’d have given it full stars if there had been tea-making facilities in the room. When a fuse went early in the morning, all the lights went out and nobody was at the desk. I had to leave by torchlight.

A perfect stopover for us. We got in at 20:00, went straight out for an excellent meal at Maison Renard, then came back to sleep. In the morning we were off again at 08:30 to finish the journey. The hotel was clean, comfortable and affordable, and the parking felt secure.

On my second stay, I found the place much cleaner and more up to date than the nearest option from another hotel group. It’s in a good, safe location and generally good value.
