Camping Bella Vista

We only stayed one night before setting off on the GR20 for two weeks of tent camping, and the comfortable bed gave us a good rest. We’d booked a bungalow the week before and arrived around midnight. The staff member whose number was on the guard’s booth came right away, within two minutes. He was from Mali, spoke excellent English, and was professional and courteous throughout. Our French is rusty, but communication was easy. The clean unit had two rooms, one with a twin bed for two and the other with a single and a bunk bed. It was well equipped with air conditioning, a shower with towels and soap, a toilet, fridge, coffee machine, stove, TV and internet. The mattress was comfortable, even though we only had a couple of hours to sleep before leaving. The same staff member returned early in the morning to check the room and make sure everything was in order. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.

If you want lively evenings or things for children to do, this probably won’t be the spot. There’s nothing on site for kids, and the campsite doesn’t have much of a buzz. It is very quiet, though, which suits early nights. The pitches are shady, and the shower and toilet facilities were clean and good. There’s a small bar and restaurant, and the marina is about a 20 minute walk away. Nothing wrong with the site or staff, just a quiet place.

The pitches have electricity, and the bathrooms, showers and sinks were all kept very clean. Reception staff were wonderful. It’s a decent campsite on the edge of Calvi, within easy walking distance of both town and beach. My only reservation is the little on-site pizzeria. The food is decent and fairly priced, but the service was below average.

The dusty tent pitches and large scale of the campsite make it feel pretty average. You can drive in to unload and load, but can't park next to your tent. The toilets are standard and reasonably clean. Its location makes it fine for a night or two, about 15 minutes from Calvi beach and 20 minutes from the city, which is worth visiting. The road isn’t the best at night.
