We won’t be coming back. For the price, I expected more, and the room we got looked nothing like the photos on the hotel’s website. The wallpaper was drab, the carpets were worn out, the bed was lumpy, and the bathroom felt cramped and dated. When I asked reception if we could move to a room like the ones shown online, I was told all the rooms were the same as ours. I felt deceived.

They took very good care of our bikes, which was a plus. But our room was on the fourth floor with no lift. Breakfast was chaotic, nobody seemed to be in charge, and they kept running out of food. They said they had gluten-free options, but what we got were dry crackers.

The restaurant staff are amazing, especially the blonde woman. She’s so welcoming and clearly knows customer service, which feels rare these days. The hotel itself is simple, with what you need for an overnight stay, like a good bed and a nice shower. I also liked that it’s independent and has a personal touch.

We stopped for food because it’s near Chinon train station, but left after waiting more than 30 minutes without even getting drinks or water. The woman serving us gave the impression she didn’t want to serve us. We did ask, and in future she should just say so.

Breakfast was simple but quite good. It was a great place to stay during our bike trip, though we really missed having air conditioning. The weather was unusually hot, and I don’t think France gets temperatures like that regularly.
