The Originals City, Hôtel Éclipse

The rooms are very basic, the Wi-Fi was nonexistent, and this felt more like a one-star hotel. Thankfully, we were only there for one night. The staff were rude and need to learn how to treat customers and keep their promises. We called ahead to say we’d arrive an hour early because we had a match to attend, and were told we could have the room early so we could get changed. When we arrived, they said it wasn’t ready, so we had to change in the toilets.

Dinner and breakfast were good, and the bar was nice too. After such a tiring day, the staff welcomed us with smiles and so much kindness. I wish I could rate them 6 out of 5 for how warm, accommodating, and cordial they were.

The rooms had air conditioning, but on some nights the manager switched it off for the whole building. There was no fridge, safe, or pot in the room, and the thin walls and doors meant we could hear doors and pipes quite loudly. Toiletries I left on the sink were thrown away, which has never happened to me at another hotel. There also aren't many different places to eat nearby, and the hotel restaurant is closed Friday through Sunday. The worst part was arriving after midnight to find the entrance locked. Check-in was listed as available until 11 PM, and they said late arrivals needed to call ahead. I did, and they promised to send instructions for getting in, but never sent them. Their emergency number didn't work, so I was stuck outside for the night in a somewhat dodgy-looking neighborhood at 1 AM. The staff were kind once they let me in, but that level of incompetence is unbelievable.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and everything else was okay. We were there for a concert at Groupama stadium, which was easy to reach by bus. It’s really well connected.
