Hôtel de la Plage

The room was clean and comfortable, just right for our one night, and the location is amazing. We skipped breakfast because it seemed too expensive for what you get. The lobby is lovely, though the hallways and rooms could use the same kind of facelift.

We had a great room overlooking the sea, with a good-sized double bed that was extremely comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was a good continental spread. I liked the books guests could borrow, presumably left by people who'd stayed before. The hotel is at the quieter end of the seafront, so outside noise didn't disturb our sleep. One slightly quirky detail was the glass wall between the bed and bathroom. It let natural light into a bathroom that would otherwise be dark.

The reception staff were lovely, always smiling and really easy to deal with. The breakfast buffet was small but very good, and the woman working there kept it well managed and replenished. Our room was a little dated, but there was nothing actually wrong with it. The location is excellent for both the seafront and town centre. We had a pleasant two-night stay. Thanks!

The place has a calm, welcoming feel, and the reception area is pleasant. The staff are very friendly, and there's a nice offer of a free drink each day if you don't need fresh towels or a room clean. They have Leffe on draught. Our room was dated, and the hotel rooms could use some investment. It had a sit-down shower in the bath, the kind of setup you wouldn't expect in a modern chain hotel. They also use an old-fashioned key system: you leave your key at reception when you go out and collect it when you return. That feels like a missed chance to invest in a modern system, and it means waiting for someone to be available each time you enter or leave, which gets frustrating.
