Camping Le Bois Des Ecureuils

The toilets were exceptionally dirty, with what looked like nothing more than a rinse from a water hose. While we were there, a group of young people bowled heavy metal balls right by the showers without watching out for people walking past. There was loud music late into the night, and a dog pup at the tent pitch. I'd sleep in the car if this were my last option. I've stayed at many campsites in Europe, and this is near the top of my worst list. Beyond the usual French campsite issues, where you're lucky if anyone at reception speaks English, showers have no hot and cold water regulation, and prices are high, this one was exceptionally bad.

The site wasn't clean, and I'm not usually bothered by a bit of dirt. Some pitches had grubby, mouldy old caravans that looked like they hadn't moved for years, and the place seemed to have semi-permanent residents. The location was convenient, though not especially lovely. The owner was friendly and the price was cheap, but I still can't recommend it.

I was on a cycling trip and needed somewhere to stay, otherwise I definitely would have avoided this place. The toilets weren't clean, and neither was the shower room.

Drunk people were shouting near the tent both before and after midnight.
