La Perle d'Eze Appart Hotel

The location worked really well for us, since our events were spread across different sites, and we got the water-view room we had booked. We knew the water wouldn't be right beside the hotel. Before arriving, we tried the hotel's messaging platform, email, and phone without getting a reply. The front desk tried to help once we got there, though by then some things couldn't be sorted out in time. We were a little anxious after reading reports from earlier guests about bedbugs. The room looked clean, and the mattress had a bedbug cover, which was reassuring. The bed was more comfortable than it looked and was fine for a night or two, but the small pillows gave no neck support. The Wi-Fi kept dropping, so we switched networks and ended up relying on mobile data. Our stay was okay, though for the price we expected more, especially in terms of comfort and communication.

The location was the one good thing. I asked for a quiet room when booking, but ours faced the traffic by the swimming pool and was very noisy. The first-floor rooms were humid, and ours smelled bad. There was a bug in the bed, and I was getting bites from the first day. I have a photo of it, and a video showing the cars right outside the room. When I spoke to the receptionist, she acted as if she knew nothing and told me to deal directly with the cleaner, who I couldn't find. We also waited nearly an hour for a technician because none of the room's Wi-Fi worked. The hotel's response to my review wasn't truthful or sincere, and they didn't even apologize for the mistake. I wouldn't recommend staying here in beautiful Eze, since the experience spoiled the memory of the trip.

The staff were so kind and helpful that I raised my rating to three stars, though honestly I was closer to two. We were given a portable AC that worked reasonably well, but it was loud and made sleeping difficult. The hotel advertises AC, but it doesn't have it. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I'd suggest staying somewhere else, even though I really appreciated the staff.

Bedbug alert. We stayed for a week, and the staff seemed friendly and helpful before and during the visit. The room appeared clean, though there was an odd smell and some traffic noise. On our last morning, we found a bedbug in the bedroom. We had to leave early, before reception opened, so I emailed them about it. I said I wasn't making a formal claim for a refund, but hoped for some compensation for the discomfort, extra costs, and all the extra work involved. I never heard a word back.
