The staff were helpful and pleasant, breakfast was okay, and there was free filtered water. Still, this visit left me a bit disappointed. There were few power sockets near the bed or sink, and breakfast was limited: the same cheese and jambon each morning, plus a bowl of yogurt and one of fruit purée. One day they ran out of orange juice but had freshly pressed oranges instead. The baguette and pastries weren’t great quality. The TV started with its volume set high, and the bedside lamps were too bright. I’ll reconsider where I stay next time I’m in the Compiègne area. It’s not bad, but there are better choices around Compiegne. Mercure, from the same brand, is worth paying the difference for.

The location worked really well for us, just off the motorway, with a Burger King and 3 Brasseurs within walking distance. There’s dedicated hotel parking around the back, more secure than the generic carpark. The rooms were okay, though the shower setup was strange: you can see through the glass into the whole bathroom, while the curtain is outside it. Whoever’s showering has no say in their privacy if the other guest opens the curtain. Not necessarily a problem, but it feels like a voyeuristic design choice!

Over the past 11 years, I’ve spent many nights at the IBIS Styles in Jaux on business trips, and I’ve always been welcomed warmly. The rooms are clean and tidy, and breakfast is nicely laid out. If I’m back in the area, this will be my GOTO place.

A practical place to stay, with good value for the price. The rooms are small but modern, parking is free right next to the hotel, and breakfast was good. Though it’s advertised as ending at 10am, it was still available after that, and small chocolate croissants and coffee were out throughout the day. The area itself isn’t very interesting, mostly big box stores like grocery stores, so you definitely need a car to explore Compiegne. Good for a practical visit, but not romantic at all if that’s what you have in mind.
