Residence Inn by Marriott Lille

The location is perfect, just a five minute walk from Lille Europe, with Westfield shopping mall right downstairs. Great value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff did a very good job. The rooms are spacious, though the bedroom feels a bit small for a room this size.

The hotel itself was okay, and the location is good for downtown. The rooms are nice, the kitchen is big if you need it, and there's a parking garage right in front. But I heard this is meant to be a 4-star hotel, and breakfast was nowhere near that. It was honestly the worst breakfast experience I've ever had. At 9am, the tiny breakfast area was packed with families and noisy kids, far too small for the number of guests. The buffet was practically empty: no bread, milk, butter, vegetables, plates, coffee cups, cereal bowls, spoons, or napkins. One woman was trying to manage the buffet and seating while a man baked pastries. Dirty dishes were piled up everywhere, the floor was dirty, and people stood around the kitchen hoping to get a plate or cup. The staff member even had to wash dishes herself because there were no clean plates left. The sweet drinks from the coffee machine that they call cappuccino were basically undrinkable. The breakfast was an absolute mess.

Parking feels very secure, which is reassuring. Getting into the place is a bit of a pain, though.

The rooms are nice and large, and the bed was comfortable. There are plenty of parking spots, but finding the parking entrance from the main street is very difficult. There's no fitness centre or arrangement with any nearby one. Service could be better too: I asked a question three days ago and still haven't had a reply.
