Greet was a mixed bag. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and they kindly kept our luggage after checkout while we waited 4.5 hours for our taxi to the River boat. The room was clean and comfortable, but narrow and very dark, with what looked like black carpet on the ceiling. Yellow lamps didn’t help. Mdm Simone, the bar and restaurant, had a wonderful atmosphere, but the menu had very few choices. We went two doors down to Brasserie Georges instead, which had a broad menu and was quite nice. Breakfast was cheap but lacked imagination: no croissants, and the only “hot” food was boiled eggs.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this was so bad I feel I have to. I was billed three times for one room. When I contacted the hotel right away, they denied it until the charges showed up on my credit card. Then they said it was hotel policy and flat-out refused to remove them. A three-night stay for two went from €270 to €765. If you’re looking for a den of thieves, go ahead. Otherwise, Lyon has many, MANY reputable, honest hotels, and I’d stay at one of those.

There’s plenty for kids, the breakfast is great, and the location gives you access to all the trains and trams. Brasserie Georges is almost next door, if that’s your thing. The restaurant and jazz club “Mlle Simone” is part of the hotel, with jazz combos playing several times a week in a very cool setting. Prices are quite reasonable out of season.

We had a lovely three-night stay. The room was compact but just right, and very clean, with no problems at all. Staff were lovely and helpful, and gluten-free bread was available at breakfast if you asked. The location was convenient and the area by the main station felt perfectly okay, with tram, metro, and flixbus connections.

Check-in was poor, with just one woman at the lobby and no recognition of my platinum status. This was worse than Ibis. Greet? More like busy! I regret booking and wouldn’t recommend it. The room layout was bad, and there wasn’t even separate body wash and shampoo. The bathroom mirror was tiny and poor, and the bath soap faced the wrong way. I don’t understand why it’s rated so highly when there’s so little to like.
