ibis budget Lyon Gerland

We felt welcome every time, thanks to a lovely, accommodating team. It's clean and in a great spot for what we needed on our trip. A little gem.

The staff were friendly, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. My room was good, though a bit worn, and it had everything I wanted. Free parking was a real bonus. The neighborhood is pretty rough, with lots of roadworks and prostitution, but I didn't have any security problems. The parking lot closes at night, too. None of that bothered me, so it shouldn't bother you either.

We spent an hour trying to find a way into the hotel because of the roadworks. The signs were confusing, there were no clear directions on the website, and the hotel's instructions on the phone weren't helpful. A friendly guy at the McDonald's next door finally pointed us the right way. We were too tired to look for another place by then, but I won't stay here again on a future Lyon stopover. The room was filthy, with a dirty-looking floor and broken hooks, so there wasn't enough room to hang our towels. At least the shower had hot water.

From my window I watched several people struggle to get in because of the roadworks. Some drove around to the hotel's closed back gate, while others were confused when Google directed them toward a no entry sign. The room could use a better clean and is looking worn: the shower door was broken, there was a hole in the wall behind the door, and I saw cigarette burns on the floor and window frame.
