Le 12 Pierre Croix Rousse

We had a peaceful, clean room with a small, cute balcony in a lovely neighborhood. The staff were really friendly. It got a little warm inside, but they had a fan. For the price, the quality was amazing.

The metro is very close and the location is good. The room was okay, though this is a very basic hotel, and the shower had very weak pressure. There’s an after-hours entry code: the one I was given worked on my first night, but not the second. Someone on the intercom gave me a replacement. When I asked reception about it the next day, the woman was rude and dismissive. If the code was changing, I don't see why they couldn't text or email guests.

It's a basic, worn place, but it's cheap and clean, and the location on a lovely central boulevard is great. Reception staff were helpful. The balconies on the upper floors look out over the city.

There are plenty of places to eat at different prices within walking distance, so making a meal is an option but hardly necessary. The proprietor was helpful and spoke English. For a short stay, this is an excellent base for exploring and enjoying this working-class neighborhood. If possible, ask for one of the adjoining rooms in Impasse de Bon Pasteur. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back ‘l’annee prochaine’. Merci a vous 😆
