ibis Styles Lyon Confluence

Sadly, our car was broken into during the stay. Houssem was incredibly helpful, arranging to get the window repaired and going above and beyond for us. The excellent service made us feel we'd choose this hotel again anytime. Many thanks!

I didn't enjoy staying at Ibis Styles Lyon Confluence. Opening the window brought in swarms of mosquitoes, and the room had an unpleasant smell. It was tiny and uncomfortable, and the location wasn't great either. I wouldn't come back.

The hotel generally meets the standards for this type of place, and the staff are friendly. Parking was easy to enter and leave in a 4.6-4.8 meter car, despite comments I’d seen about a tight entrance. The spaces themselves are quite small, though, so that could cause trouble. My main complaint is the €200 deposit. I booked through the All Accor app as a Silver member, and it said nothing about a deposit before arrival. I only realized after some time that the charge had gone through, even though the free cancellation period was still open. I’ve stayed at more than 25 hotels in the past two years, including over 15 in the All Accor network, and never had this happen. Charging a deposit without explaining it before booking is unacceptable, especially when it’s twice the room price and taken before free cancellation ends. If a deposit is charged, the room should be checked at checkout and the money returned right away. That wasn’t done here. This is far from standard practice, even within the same network, and doesn’t make sense. If the hotel wants a deposit, it should say so in every booking app. The All Accor app incorrectly said it would be collected on arrival and didn’t state the amount. It should charge no more than the room price, and only after free cancellation has ended. If a larger amount is needed, ask at check-in and offer cash as an option. Then return it as soon as checkout is complete.

The breakfast was excellent, and the room was really clean. They changed the towels every day and cleaned the whole room. It was a really nice, pleasant stay.
